Tylenol Recalls All 100 Count Bottles of Arthritis Pain Caplets

Johnson and Johnson expanded their voluntary recall of Tylenol Arthritis Pain Caplets on Tuesday to include all lots of the 100 pill bottles with EZ-Open caps. Last month, Tylenol recalled five lots of the medication after consumers complained of a mildew-like smell coming from the caplets which gave consumers nausea, vomiting and diarrhea. The company says that the smell comes from trace amounts of 2,4,6-tribromoanisole in the medication. This chemical comes from the breakdown of another chemical which is used to treat wooden pallets. Although there are no studies about the effects of this chemical, Tylenol says the side effects from the tainted medication are ‘‘temporary and non-serious’’. ...
