Dexter McCluster surpassed the 1000 yard rushing and 500 yards receiving in the same season

During the first quarter of the Cotton Bowl, Dexter McCluster, running back receiver for Mississippi, became the first player in the Southeastern Conference to surpass the 100 yards rushing and 500 yards receiving in the same season. Before the Cotton Bowl Dexter was only 15 yards short of the rushing mark and 25 yards short of the receiving mark.

During the Cotton Bowl game against Oklahoma State, McCluster made history. During the final play of the first quarter, Dexter McCluster took a catch that gave receptions for 28 yards. This play also made him the fourth player in Mississippi school history to break the 1000 yards rushing. During the second quarter of the Cotton Bowl game Dexter ran for a total of 86 yards untouched to score a touchdown for the Rebels.
