Texas Tech Head Coach Mike Leach Suspended

Section:

Head football coach Mike Leach has been suspended from his post at Texas Tech University while the school looks into a complaint filed against him. Leach, who was Big 12 Coach of the Year last season, has been the head coach at Texas Tech since 2000, and signed a five year contract with them in February. However, this is not the first time this season that his coaching techniques have been questioned. He yelled at his players in October for listening to their "fat little girlfriends" and underestimating their opponents, the Aggies. Also, he forbid his players from having Twitter or Facebook pages after one of his players complained about him in a Twitter update.

This time, the complaints are much more serious. Although the school has not released the name of the student who filed a complaint, Adam James, son of former NFL player Craig James, has issued a press release naming himself as the complainant. The James' statement said that Adam "had been subjected to actions and treatment not consistent with common sense rules for safety and health". Adam reportedly suffered a concussion this season, and may have been treated unsafely or unfairly following his injury. In the meantime, Ruffin McNeill will serve as interim head coach and will see his team to the Alamo Bowl this Friday.
